Ministry Urged to Investigate Misprinted Books Distribution
Suparman of the Indonesian Forum of Independent Teachers and Hetifah Sjaifudian of the House’s Commission X have called on the Ministry of Education and Culture to take responsibility for the distribution of some erroneously printed books on the state ideology Pancasila in some schools in Yogyakarta.
Suparman said the ministry should be responsible because all matters concerning school books fall within its authority. Hetifah said that the ministry must not take the problem lightly and that it must find and sanction the culprits who distributed the misprinted books.
Minister of Education and Culture Mohammad Nuh has earlier expressed his strong concerns over the distribution of the erroneously printed course book, which have not been assessed or approved by the ministry. Nuh asserted that all course books must be assessed and approved by the ministry’s Center of Curriculum and Books prior to distribution.
